The New York Times dug up a gem of an international political news story last week and I just had to post it here because it tickled that political junkie bone of mine that can make me unpopular at parties. Israeli prime minister candidate Benjamin Netanyahu posted a website that is the mirror image of Barack Obama’s:
“Imitation is the greatest form of flattery,” noted Ron Dermer, one of Mr. Netanyahu’s top campaign advisers. “We’re all in the same business, so we took a close look at a guy who has been the most successful and tried to learn from him. And while we will not use the word ‘change’ in the same way in our campaign, we believe Netanyahu is the real candidate of change for Israel.”
The Times also says Netanyahu’s campaign is using Twitter as a campaign tool and echoes Obama’s “Yes We Can” slogan with their own, “Together we can succeed.”
Good job, Ethan Bronner and Noam Cohen on a fun post-election find.
And I was totally kidding about being unpopular at parties. After a couple beers, I’m way fun. Especially during a game of Beer Pong – I might suck, but I can talk trash that’ll light any ass on fire.
