Normally, I don’t speak on behalf of all liberals. But, today I’m going to. Because I feel like it.
Throwing Pelosi in front of the bus won’t help Republicans, but they can enjoy using her as a punching bag as long as the media thinks there’s a story in it. Whatevah. Liberals really couldn’t give a shit.
We’re not huge fans of hers in any case, numero uno. Numero dos, I’m a proponent of term limits, so anything that can knock congresspeople who have been at their post over 8 years, I’m in favor of. I feel the same way about Harry Reid.
And, in reality, the Repubs like Pelosi right where she is – with the big crosshairs on her forehead. The Right thinks attacking her boosts their numbers. And they may be right in the short term. Ergo, forcing Nancy out is not in the game plan, gnawing on her slowly decaying remains, however, is.
And, with this whole “Did she know about the occuring torture?” is such a red herring, it’s laughable.
We will not stop discussing who tortured, who ordered it and whether or not it produced actionable intelligence and who knew about it – Righties and Lefties alike. We will not stop trying to assess whether Cheney and his beasties ordered the torture of an Iraqi in an effort to prove a link between Al Qaeda and Saddam, with which to sell the Iraqi War. The discussion will not go away. This is part of our heritage and our history and these determinations will have great effect on our future.
Furthermore, we want all relevant memos released as well – we’re generally for transparency in government. All this keeping shit secret for the safety of the country is bullshit. When the government is hiding something, it’s to benefit themselves, not the people. The best decisions and opinions are made with an overabundance of information, not underabundance.
Remember Patrick Henry’s 1775 call: Give Me Liberty or Give Me Death saying? Liberty means transparency. It means the government not spying on you. It means the government abiding by the law, no matter the identity of the person with whom they are dealing. When you do not protect the freedoms and rights of another, it will be your rights the government will come after next.
Right Wing: Go throw sand and Nancy all you want – it doesn’t matter to me. But when your little schoolyard fight is through, we’ll still be marching our call for solid answers on the questions of torture.
And, for the record, the CIA does lie at times. Especially under the Bush administration, who used the organization for politically motivated purposes. That’s reality. If the Right wants to rave their hands like asylum inmates in defense of the CIA and insist that speaking of the organization in realistic terms to shade the discussion, fine. This is a topic of conversation, not a strategy. And no one said the CIA lies “all the time” or “systematically,” Giuliani, or said they were not doing their job or that they did not do a phenomenal job. But the CIA has fudged the truth in a number of instances and if certain Righties cannot tell the truth about the topic, if they cannot acknowledge reality (for political purposes), they are an irrelevant participant in the discussion and a hinderer of progress.
In other words, grow the fuck up.

Grow the fuck up, huh? You kiddin me?
While I credit you for not rallying around Pelosi like she’s some sort of liberal goddess, I must criticize you for making light of the situation.
If we were talking about a Republican House speaker accusing the CIA of lying to Congress about this liberal buzz word “torture,” we’d have seen 47 congressional hearings already, the result of which would have been the speaker’s loss of power and possible removal from office. Besides, if liberals don’t give a shit, then why are they protecting her?
This is not about right-wing opportunism. And though you’re right that Pelosi is exactly where Repulicans want her, a stark difference exists between being a liberal asshole and a liberal liar. While liberals are often both, in Pelosi’s case, it makes her unfit to serve. She’s second-in-line for the presidency, for goodness sake. Her incompetency is stunning.
We have different world perspectives, so your soft position on national security and U.S. intelligence agencies does not surprise me. However, it is, in fact, in the interest of national security that certain documents are not released. They’re classified for a reason. And it’s unfortunate liberal poster boy Barack Obama picks and chooses, based solely on political retaliation, which he’s going to declassify.
As far as this tired torture debate, I’ve yet to see evidence those poor terrorists were actually “tortured” at Gitmo and in secret CIA prisons. Obama and his followers talk about transparency. Where is the transparency on so-called torture? And I’m not talking about Abu Ghraib. Those directly responsible for that despicable shit got what they deserved. I’m talking about the claims by Obama and his liberal allies that high-value targets were “tortured” overseas.
How exactly were they “tortured?” You mean those three terrorists who were waterboarded? Is that what you liberals call “torture?” That’s hilarious. Caterpillars in boxes? Break-away padded walls? Loud rap music? You call that “torture?” If that’s “torture,” then we sure are soft on it and these poor innocent terrorists are getting off easy.
If everyone on Capitol Hill wants to sit around all day and pass laws about which tactics to use during interrogations of killers, then fine. But knock this shit off about torture. Even if one terrorist was beat to shit during an interrogation, that’s better than being shot dead in the field, which is what needs to happen next time so the Barack Obama White House Law Firm of America can’t litigate our national security.
Liberals are pansies when it comes to national security. “Torture” or not, my country hasn’t been hit in almost eight years. Downplay that fact all you want, you BDS sufferers, but if whatever those intelligence agents are doing is keeping my country safe, I’m all for it
- even if a caterpillar or two has to die in the process.
And one more thing: I’m sick of this whole argument that harsh interrogation methods taint America’s image abroad. So what? Those who hate us are always going to hate us, and terrorists who kill in the name of their Islam are always going to kill. It doesn’t matter what we do or are perceived to do. Obama wants to lecture us on how Bush-era policies have empowered terrorists. Bull-fucking-shit. Terrorists don’t need empowerment. That’s like saying rapists need a reason to rape, like saying Catholic priests need a reason to touch altar boys. These types need know inspiration to do their evil deeds.
So you grow the fuck up.
